Hi, I'm Saikat — a hobbyist photographer, primarily focused on street photography.

I got my first camera in 2016, but it took me four years to actually take it to the streets. Shortly after, I picked up my current camera, a Ricoh GR IIIx, and I've been shooting with it since 2022.

I'm based out of Bangalore and visit my hometown, Kolkata, a couple of times a year — almost like a tourist now. My primary body of work is built around Kolkata and its colorful streets, but I've been actively trying to get better at capturing Bangalore too, recently.

I picked up the Ricoh GR at a critical juncture of my photography journey. I was torn between a full-frame, do-it-all camera for photos and video, or a smaller, fixed-lens camera that would let me shoot more often. After nearly four years with the GR IIIx, I couldn't be happier with that decision. From the very first shot, it changed the way I work — bringing me closer to my subjects and making me almost invisible to them, just because of its smaller footprint. My style has been shaped by this camera's form factor and focal length more than I ever expected.
